CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2020 would start from February. The application form process is ongoing at different schools. For the first time, students have the option of choosing basic maths.
Teachers list out the difficulties that students could face if they choose basic mathematics.
The subject would have same a different curriculum, easier question paper for those who wish to discontinue maths in senior secondary classes. The board has answered the queries, and there are still a few worries. Teachers have pointed out that students who choose basic maths may face problems if they were to wish to change their board in class 11.
Central Board of Secondary Education has not released any official circular till now. Schools have informed that on investigating regarding the validity of Basic Mathematics with other boards, no clarification offered. The board officials told the schools that it could not confirm the validity of the Basic Mathematics subject if a student is opting for another board after Class 10.
While more details are awaited, the students who choose Basic Mathematics can pick up computers in class 11 and 12. The students also have an option of appearing for Standard Mathematics paper with the compartment examinations conducted in July, should they change their mind.
Teachers say the child and the parent should decide to choose between Basic Mathematics and Standard mathematics. All are advised to go through the FAQs carefully about Basic Mathematics as shared by CBSE before taking the decision.
Schools are also requesting the consent in writing from parents should their ward opt for Basic Mathematics over Standard Mathematics. All parents are instructed to go through the examination form carefully and check the details as getting them corrected later may be problematic.
