FRAMINGHAM – Two finalists for principal at King Elementary School were announced today, June 14.
They are Marguerite Simpson-Lackard and Jennifer Evans.
Simpson-Lackard is currently the mathematics department head and mathematics teacher at Walsh Middle School
Simpson-Lackard began her career in the Framingham Public schools in 2000 as an 8th grade math teacher. She is currently at Walsh Middle School.
She was a You Are Special recipient in 2015 at the Salute to Framingham, and recently was named a Woman Making History NOW honoree by Framingham State University.
She also has served as a Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports coach, and is a founding member of the Walsh mentoring program.
Prior to that, she was a Medical Consultant Boston Juvenile Court in Boston and a Pediatric Physician at Boston Medical Center in Boston.
A graduate of City College of New York, she earned a Bachelor of Science and pursued her Doctorate of Medicine at the State University of New York Health Science Center. She earned her Masters in Education from Cambridge College.
Evans is currently an Instructional Coach K-4 at Chamberlain Elementary School in Taunton. Prior to that, she was a Teacher at the Edmund Hatch Bennett Elementary School in Taunton.
A graduate from Lesley University, she earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Studies, having earlier earned her CAGS from Cambridge College. She also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Studies from Tufts University and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Framingham State College
A “Meet the Candidates” faculty and staff forum will take place on Monday, June 17 at King Elementary in Room 207:
- Marguerite Simpson-Lackard: 8:20 to 8;40 a.m.
- Jennifer Evans, Ph.D.: 8:45 to 9:05 a.m.
A “Meet the Candidates” parent/community forum will take place on Monday, June 17 at King Elementary in the cafeteria from 6:20 to 7;40 p.m.
This will be streamed live through Framingham Public Schools Facebook Page for those who cannot attend.
Surveys will be provided to offer feedback to the Superintendent of Schools regarding each candidate.
Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay willmake the decision between the two finalists.
King Elementary School was established in 2014.
In its first year, the Hemenway Elementary Principal shared duties between the two schools.
Then Dunning Elementary princiapl Kim Taylor became Principal of King Elementary.
She left in 2018, and former Wilson Elementary Principal Jonathan Maynard served as principal this 2018-2019 school year.
In the 2019-2020 school year. King will become a full k-5 elementary school.
